PoochPlay is a UK based (angel backed) company behind the revolutionary intelligent dog well-being management app and a Bluetooth enabled activity tracker that delivers valuable benefits to dog owners.

A tiny, low-cost sensor attached to a dog’s collar, and a free app on a phone, form the basis of a compelling way for owners to love and look after their dog’s health. An internet-based “cloud” service stores this data and using an intelligent algorithm calculates how much food the dog should consume daily.

PoochPlay has successfully:

-Raised funding rounds through private (angel) investors
-Built the hardware and mobile apps (Android and iOS) from scratch owning all the tech and IP
-Launched the product successfully and growing at 3x times the forecast

Marketing Manager Job Description:

The Marketing role is split into 3 sections1. Social Media Coordinator

1. Social Media Coordinator
You will be responsible for managing of the brand’s Instagram, Facebook and Twitter platforms, working closely on Marketing and Ecommerce to develop the strategy for each channel. 


This role requires:

  • 
Managing the platforms on a day-to-day basis and looking for opportunities to grow numbers and engage with our followers
  • Maintain the social media content calendar 

  • Conducting weekly analysis of each platform and writing up reports on your findings
  • Responding to follower questions and queries
  • Monitoring social advertising and paid promotion
  • Monitoring the growth of competitor platforms 

  • Looking at opportunities to develop new platforms such as Pinterest, LinkedIn and others in the future
  • Contacting bloggers and influencers to promote the brand and get sales / downloads / following. 



2. Copywriting

As the copywriter, you will be needed at times to follow the brand’s tone of voice and write copy. Though this won’t be the primary role it will be expected of you at times.


This role will involve working with the Design, Development, Marketing & PR and Ecommerce teams to write, proofread and check copy including:

  • Product description 
- Website meta data and front-end (we only have one product)

  • Email
  • Blog posts
  • Social media: Instagram, Facebook and Twitter 

  • App copy. 

  • All other marketing communications e.g. press releases, invitations to events, customer letters, terms and conditions, affiliate & marketplace communications 



3. Content Generation:

You will be tasked with posting engaging and relevant content to support the website on the brand pages and on the company’s blog.We have a lot of posts written already, you will be responsible for posting them. 
This may require:

  • Actively look to generate content by discovering, attending and covering non-company related events (such as dog shows etc. which will be paid for by the company) to further the brand’s content 

  • Work with external writers and influencers to create engaging content and expand the variety of posts for blog readers
  • Interviewing notable figures / vets / trainers / etc. 
- Source imagery where necessary 
  • Helping to define and implement the digital content strategy 



Other ad-hoc tasks: 


  • Liaising with photographers/ videographers for possible social media shoots or use at events 

  • Input into photoshoots 

  • Look for holes where we should be generating more content and work with the team to create this through photo shoots and partnerships 

  • Keep an eye on influencers within the dogs and pets area and look for opportunities where we could work with them to reach new customers 

  • Liaise with, and at times manage, other teams such as PPC, SEO, design, - 
development etc. 
  • Other ways to increase sales of the trackers and app downloads. 

This position will report to the CEO and as an early-stage startup we are looking for a proactive individual who's happy to work without a need for constant supervision and not afraid to take on new challenges. A good understanding of using Apple Mac, associated software and basic Office products is imperative.

This is a full-time position


Requirements:

  • Organised and detail orientated
  • At least 1-2 years of previous relevant work experience
  • Strong written and oral language skills with proven creative writing proficiency
  • Digital content experience including management of social media
  • Creatively and visually inclined, including the ability to notice patterns and colours that might be used in existing content so as to make new content blend in seamlessly
  • Technology proficient
  • Able to understand and analyse web analytics so as to assess and tweak marketing strategy
  • Customer focused, working with end-users to deliver a positive experience
  • Excellent communicator
  • Confident decision maker
  • Team player
  • Fast learner is imperative
